(Walt Disney's) Mickey Mouse Almanac (Dell Giant) v1 #1, 1957 - A Mickey Mouse comic is an uncommon place to find work by Carl Barks, yet two of his stories reside in this giant first issue. The first features Gyro Gearloose and the consequences of building a neighborhood rocket ship (see interior page shown below). The second is an Uncle Scrooge tale involving a football team rivalry between the Duckburg Quackers and the Dogdale Barkers. Both are cleverly written and delightfully drawn, representative of Barks' high standards during this era. These stories were later reprinted in Walt Disney Comics Digest #57. This issue also includes artwork by Al Hubbard and Jack Bradbury. This is 1 of 1 Mickey Mouse Almanac issues by Barks. /// key 1st issue
