Annie Oakley #9 - Al Williamson art

Annie Oakley #9
Annie Oakley v1 #9, 1956Al Williamson employs a rougher style of brushwork on many of his western stories, including this fine example. Though only a mere four pages, the panels are superbly and intricately drawn. The opening page has a typically large panel, in this case featuring the story's central character in full depiction. The frontier settings and naturally pristine backgrounds (especially the surrounding trees and foliage) throughout look especially good. These outdoor scenes nicely evoke the open spaces of the American old west. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ross Andru and Mike Esposito. Cover by Carl Burgos. This is 1 of 1 Annie Oakley issues by Williamson.
