House of Mystery #78 - Jack Kirby cover

Jack Kirby
House of Mystery v1 #78, 1958 - Is the mysterious lady in black a mere witness or the cause to a series of disasters? Jack Kirby's cover seems unusually whimsical for a serious event. Regardless, the art and layout is sound. The female figure's forward tilt counterbalances the background building. Note also Kirby opts for a more interesting Art Deco style over traditional architecture. Other artists in this golden age comic include Bill Ely, Howard Purcell, Mort Meskin and George Roussos. This is 8 of 11 House of Mystery issues by Kirby. /// Kirby gallery
