House of Mystery #72 - Jack Kirby art

House of Mystery #72
House of Mystery v1 #72, 1958 - An acclaimed director of science fiction shows, Elliot Wright is forced to aid an invasion by real aliens from the planet Ziron. The main character seems loosely inspired by Orson Welles and his "War of the Worlds" radio broadcast. Jack Kirby does a commendable job, depicting tv studios and fantastical scenes with equal vigor. Though only six pages, the artist tells the story with clarity and efficiency. The inks are more likely by Kirby himself, a task he often relegated to other artists. This story was later reprinted in Unexpected #162. Other artists in this golden age comic include Ruben Moreira. This is 6 of 11 House of Mystery issues by Kirby. /// Kirby gallery
